The Switch Flip of Passion: A Creative’s Confession

You know that feeling. That electric moment when an idea strikes and suddenly your world narrows to a single, brilliant point of focus. Like a light switch flicking on, illuminating a room you never knew existed in your mind.

It happened to me as I was going through a typical are.na channel, what you see right below this.

3 AM finds you deep in the rabbit hole. Tabs upon tabs. Notes scattered across your desktop like digital breadcrumbs. Your coffee’s gone cold [I don’t do coffee but I had to come up with something so that you can relate as you read this], but who needs caffeine when you’re running on pure, undiluted obsession?

Just five more minutes,” you whisper to yourself, knowing full well it’s a beautiful lie.

Then…

Click.

The switch flips the other way. That same project that had you canceling dinner plans and forgetting to eat now sits there, staring back at you like a stranger at a bus stop. The fire that burned bright? Extinguished. Not even a wisp of smoke remains to remind you why you cared damn much in the first place.

It’s the creative’s curse — this dance between all-consuming passion and sudden indifference. One moment you’re crafting entire universes in your mind, the next you’re scrolling mindlessly through your phone or whichever screen, that once-urgent project gathering digital dust in a folder you’ll pretend not to see.

They say love and hate are two sides of the same coin. But for you and me, it’s obsession and apathy that play this eternal game of tag. One chasing the other in an endless loop, like a cat chasing its own tail. So dumb.

And you know what? That’s okay.

Because tomorrow, or next week, or when you least expect it…

Click.

The light will switch on again. A different room, a new obsession, another chance to lose yourself — until you don’t.

This isn’t a bug in your CreativeOS. It’s the feature that keeps you evolving, growing, and eternally curious. Embrace the cycle, ride the waves, and remember: every time the switch flips to darkness, it’s gathering potential for the next brilliant illumination.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a new obsession to chase. At least for the next few hours.
